i am once again begging windows users to understand that linux nerds give you instructions in the form of terminal commands because "paste this in" is a million times faster than trying to lead you through the gui one button at a time, not because the gui doesn't exist

Thus perpetually extending out their need for your help, because they didn't learn anything in the process. You can take the extra time to teach them how to do it in their GUI, or you can forever get emails asking for your help. Up to you....

They generally don't learn anything if you try to teach them how to do it in the GUI either. They don't want to be a computer toucher, they want to get an annoyance out of the way so they can get back to what they actually wanted to do.
