Yes, few of us are qualified to lead a revolution. But most of us know enough about revolution to know they’re bloody. We hope the judiciary are not all insane or evil and that some legal procedure will be found to bring us back to service as normal in all its flawed adequacy.

The adults are in the minority party. The repubs have admitted they are too cowardly to stand up for the the oath they took to the Constitution. Unfortunately, too many dem pols are showing they are not capable of addressing the moment either.

there was a way out. now there’s not. but there was. people just believed so truly that things were Already As Bad As Possible that they took the way out for granted and didn’t bother to show up when it mattered the most

They probably won’t. They can’t be bothered with anything that might interfere with their beer, SUVs, trips to Disneyland. And since 54% of American adults read below the equivalent of a sixth-grade level, and nearly one in five adults reads below a third-grade level; the US is fucked!

This is what happens when the school systems goal is not to educate but to prevent being sued. All school; public, private and charter have serious issues. If I had school aged kids now, they've be homeschooled.

The SCOTGOP has ruled that the President is not bound by laws. This assertion will soon be tested, and undoubtedly The Supremes will double down and say the Constitution doesn't apply to him, either. Then we'll have to take the Declaration of Independence to heart and depose the despot.

You are obviously not familiar with domesticenemyhat (take a look at posts)/popehat on twitter... the symbology is more against than for organized religion. Pardon me if I appear to be stepping toes.

The opposition and resistance are the adults. We have to be the heroes. Stay loud, stay in elected representatives face, find ways to protect the vulnerable, don't surrender, DON'T obey in advance. Be the challenge to authoritarianism, be an agent of change. Be not afraid.

It is because they came for all fronts at once...but, the lack of education, the Faux News lies, then tRump lying constantly with the Republican chorus backing him up. The courts, the congress...they have been putting this in place since the 1980s. The perfect antichrist came along and they all fell

Why should Obama show..a good chunk of the country Shit on Him and his wife en masse...racism and all.....Clinton..he didnt help his own cause..unless you mean Mrs clinton who is heavily despised...Bush would be warmonger puppet callin the kettle a nazi ....so I mean cant blame em

I think many of us grew up thinking that certain chapters of history were "closed", that we had grown past the worst of it. I had an almost spiritual belief that things were always getting better. If I am lucky enough to have children, I will teach them about this moment and about my naivete.

It's us. The adult is us. It's time to step up, everyone. Our freedom is worth it. We can't let fascism make its home here, nor can we let it spread to the rest of the world. We've defeated this brand of ugly before, and we can do it again. 💙

Voter engagement and participation in the mid-terms will be unimaginably epic and that is why they are in such a hurry to smash everything so the mid terms become easy to manipulate

Indeed very sad, a bloody TV celebrity and con man with a rich rascist from South Africa is now running the show with little regard for anyway but themselves and a few very rich men. 🥵🥶

Agreed. Now that he's moved on to the military brass, the final steps will be in place to finish the job of destroying our government and way of life. Loyalist traitors at the head of every agency. Decent, sane, Americans need to get prepared like it's April 12, 1861.

They literally would come out of the voting booth say they voted for him, be of a group he vowed to do x to and they would say, 'awe nah, he isn't serious about that.' Or 'that won't actually happen.'

One of the problems in the US is having basically just a two party system and too much presidential powers. Having a multi party government makes it much less likely that one party has an absolute majority and thus can create laws on their own

A historian friend points out that all Americans alive today have lived their lives in a period of largely stable political consensus, compared to earlier eras- even taking into account the Vietnam/ civil rights struggles (and I'm of that generation) the foundations have seemed steady. Not now.

I might suppose that this notion of an external savior out-there-somewhere fits in well with the Judeo-Christian mythos of Messiah, but the best we've had through Nixon/Reagan/both Bushes has been US, and WE are going to have to step forward once again. Don't ask me how, I'm not so good on planning.

Can't happen - the DOJ and FBI are gone. Congress is a RED Butted Baboon, SCrOTUS is in Der Furrer's Pocket as with most Fed Judges. We have a FAKE DOGE dept that doesn't have a leader patching and destroying infrastructure and ignoring the Legislative Branch all together! Not-So-Civil WAR

You have less than 3 weeks left. Proposed GOP budget : Debt ceiling +$4T Tax cuts skewed to rich : $4.5T Spending cuts : $1.5T after increase of $325B in Defense/Border Other cuts in programs including Medicare & Medicaid : $2T Mortgage Interest Deduct gone? Does not include tariffs.

Look up your after Federal after-deductions income. Above $74k (US median income) = "PARTY!!!" Closer to $47k then, "Too bad." This does not include : Medicare/Medicaid & SNAP & Dep of Edu cuts Capital Gains or Corporate rate changes Mortgage Interest deduction removal? Tariff effects.

Oh, and after the wink to the fiscal hawks, if/when Thomas and/or Alito retire and are replaced by Cannon and/or Kacsmaryk and if Sotomayor or Kagan don't hang on another 4 years, it'll be a 6-3 or even 7-2 SC(R)OTUS through 2052. All Hail The Perpetual Unitary Executive.

Snug complacency. Turnout in the 1995 Quebec Referendum was 93.52%. The margin voting NOT to start down the path to secession was 1.16%, lower that the 1.82% of "invalid" ballots mostly "found" in the predominately "NO" ridings. Had 1 person in 50 not voted, then Canada might not exist today.

The moment an unfortunate and embarrassing amount of Americans realized that things were usually fair to middling because there wasn't an actual sociopath in the White House. Furthermore, there were no ultra wealthy robber baron capitalists as acting president. I love this for ancap Libertarians.

I think so too! We’ve had a relatively safe government, can do what we want, go where we want…the majority I should add. Therefore, the care isn’t there. Add to that the lack of civics education in schools. AND, the advent of social media with short attention spans.

I am honestly fine with people who are reasonable, kind and tolerant helping one another because that is their usual impulse (even when voting) and with the sort of assholes who voted Republican because they believe in rugged individualism eating hard potatoes and dying alone.

We need the Military chiefs who are still there(are they?),who align themselves with protecting the constitution,to step up and stand with us,not the nazis. I fear that if they don't,this nation will burn and millions will either be disappeared or die. Thats where we are now. Stop under reacting.

yes, from the cradle up Americans are raised on the idea of the strong "individual", through school and TV etc. They are not raised learning the mindset of joining together. So yes, they are waiting for SOMEONE, ANYONE, emphasis on ONE, to save them - rather than joining up and using numbers!

Not just Americans. For every level of Canadian government, I've heard people saying pretty much this thing. How did we become so disconnected from our own citizenship? We are literally The Government.
