Outgoing Apple CEO Tim Cook is not interesting or innovative and has shown zero backbone in the face of fascism, but that's why he was SECRETLY SO AWESOME

My favorite memory in college was attending a class where they had Woz as a guest. He was asked a simple question about the mouse, and he went on a 45 minute tangent on how he invented Apple's disk drive and how it worked in amazing detail. He concluded that sectorizing disks was more important

As an alumnus, it's kind of a bummer seeing PCMag celebrate Apple's shift to prioritizing shareholders over product innovation and open ecosystems. Woz-y stuff.

He made his money then went to enjoy life. If more of them did that instead of trying to rule us like feudal lords I would be far less critical of capitalism.

“…his disciplined approach … made its shareholders richer than ever.” Can we have just one small section of traditional media that’s not about finance? Like a personal computing magazine that’s about personal computing instead of the share prices of hardware companies?

His “secret weapon” was releasing buggy products - very much unlike Steve Jobs. The stupid bugs you face on your iPhone? Thank Tim Cook and his low bar for quality control. 🪫 Also he caved early and repeatedly to the fascist directives from the admin.

The Tim Cook glazing that is accurate is easy: stock buy-backs, Apple Watch and Airpods. That's about it. The weird-nerding over our favourite feudal lord is so lame.
