I have seen more telecom and media mergers than I can count in my 25 years of being a consumer rights reporter and I can say with absolute confidence that pre-merger promises are utterly meaningless and conditions simply aren't a substitute for tough antitrust enforcement and simply BLOCKING DEALS

merger conditions are usually badly written, nobody enforces them, and they usually only last a few years before they're forgotten to the void Democrats need to just grow a backbone and block shitty pointless consolidation especially at the hands of right wing authoritarian oligarchs
