like I get being strict on comments about violence against women (even though he's not actually advocating anybody actually turn Megyn Kelly into garden mulch), but shouldn't there be a graded strike-warning system? also shouldn't comms be better surrounding high profile moderation choices?

I didn't interpret his post as saying she should be put into a woodchipper, I read it as she was putting herself into a woodchipper with her immoral reasoning.

wouldn't the adverb imply a comment about embarrassing self-own statement (ie exercising free will to say something really dumb) rather than wishing harm or in any way cheering it on?

the mod tools for bksy are pretty blunt, for lack of a better word. i'm pretty sure it's something they've been working on. but, also, the most consistent rule they enforce around here is 'no figurative death threats'! it keeps happening!

Completely agree. The underlying principle (I think?) is fine. Everything else is a complete shitshow.

It's probably a temporary suspension, although they really need to specify that. I believe them when they say they only use permabans as a last resort.
