There’s more people blogging today than there’s ever been Unfortunately, all of their posts are locked in email inboxes or behind social network paywalls and not the open web

This. Also, I am not buying that these ATProto blog services are the solution. They can help but blogs timeless and shouldn't be tied to any non universal protocol. We need to make it as easy for an individuals to prop up a blog and do POSSE (publish on your own and syndicate elsewhere).

This way people won't be tempted to go for substack or medium. Many pick substack for the network effect as building audience often takes years. Medium, substack, devto, hashnode - all have rugpulled the users one way or another. It's only a matter of time before your favorite host will do that.

There’s no network larger than the open web! Unfortunately, it’s really bad at discovery, maintenance, mobile, and giving people vanity metrics

True. Distributed is often synonymous with impossible to discover. RSS tried some but adoption is okay at best. But I am a big fan of trying out protcols that let's me keep my site as the center and help me syndicate. I have hope for @standard.site.
