This paragraph, which is one of the central arguments of the whole piece, reads so... shallow, inane, bland. I'm appalled that this is the level of discourse around AI.

And the open source argument feels so misleading too! It's not "open source won against commercial software". Commercial software nowadays is 90 % open source, and the "magic" is the remaining 10 %, distribution, marketing, bundling... which is anyway very costly.
