At some point this past year, @samwho.dev tweeted out the quote "The way you do anything is the way you do everything" and man it's really floated back to top of mind pretty often as the year progressed Feels like a decent guiding light at the moment

I don't know, I think underperforming is underrated tbh. Trying to operate at a high level in every random thing you do seems terrible and more likely to lead to overall burnout. Sometimes you just have to mail it in.

Depends on how you interpret the quote, to me it's not really about going full throttle on everything, but rather just living more intentionally. What am I spending my time on, and when I am doing something, is it careless or careful. Still wiggle room for various levels of brain power per task.

Yeah, I personally attribute it much more to good morals. When situations arise that you could compromise morals and nobody would find out, having the fortitude not to. Completely agree with the idea of working as a sustainable pace.

It has floated to the top of my mind several times since tweeting it, too. Usually as a reminder to have and stay consistent to your principals.

Oddly, it often pops up when I'm doing some trivial, but doing it carelessly. Forces me to slow down, then I start thinking about more important things and how I approach them because of it
