Up until a few years ago, XOXO maintained a Slack instance for all attendees. It was great. A nerdy little enclave where people shared things they were working on, things they were enjoying. Jokes, gripes, miscellany.

One night, apropos of very little, people started awkwardly shoehorning the band Death Cab for Cutie into every meme format imaginable. This continued for 6 days.

It'd be so easy to attribute this to some sort of COVID-related mania, but all this happened in September 2019. The XOXO Slack was just fertile ground for the sort of joke pile-on that was once the best thing about Twitter.

The book is a perfect-bound and RISO-printed play-by-play of the whole event, a little tribute to something (like XOXO itself) that was wonderful while it lasted.
