The Appalachians are a billion years, two supercontinents, and 4 orogenic periods old. They’ve been eroding since 200 million years before the Rockies formed. They are the same range as the Scottish highlands, Scandinavian Mountains, and Atlas Mountains. The caves predate bones.

I get that we should respect our elders, but you're basically claiming that they're senile. "OK Boomer."? Lake Tahoe (CA/NV) and Santa Fe (NM) are higher than the highest mountain in the Appalachians. Every 14er in Colorado (50+ of them) is more than twice as high.

While discussing this exact point, my geology professor said “How in Hellfire would you feel if gravity had been pulling you down for a billion years?”
