Yes, the recent behaviour of Matt Mullenweg is simply unacceptable. I wonder what your plans for the future are... I am looking at Drupal again, I had used it until 2013. It was cool, but the maintenance part was a nightmare. They finally have seen the light and want to simplify some stuff.

Major upgrades are now mostly manageable starting with 8. It’s not like needing a total rebuild with previous versions. Core and modules can now be upgraded installed via composer. I appreciate the structure the CMS offers compared to WP, but I see that the same thing can be a bit onerous for some.

I recently had to take up some wp work for the first time in years, and I’m not saying this is the case for WP in general, or that the same isn’t true for some Drupal projects, but this plugin I’m working on for a client, originally written in 2013, is a total dumpster fire.

I like the CMS structure of Drupal very much. I like Twig, which I know from MetaBox in WP. But I hate wasting time trying to figure out, e.g. how to launch a Drupal multisite on some hosting plans. WP has a one-click multisite install, Drupal: facepalm. Such basic things must be simple.

Having to upgrade the core via composer sucks. As a "solo artist" it would be difficult for me to take a digital detox retreat, because Drupal might release a security update... I hope they will finally do automatic updates.

Pantheon has their upstream thing. You can do updates through the admin UI, but it’s generally discouraged, since the nature of open source maintainers is a bit more maverick, and it’s not clear of an update might have a clean upgrade path.

I started building a new static site generator for fun. It's currently being used on my own site right now. Sort of nice to not use WordPress on it, the first time in nearly 20 years.

That’s a great move. It’s important to act, I’m not yet convinced with Ghost & Astro, but I’m progressing 😊

You shouldn't feel that way, your contribution counts. As I see you are looking for another platform to power your blog, I'd love to invite you to try LiteGUI. I can work with you to migrate your WP blog to LiteGUI if you want (a migration script is also available if you want to migrate it yourself)

Thanks for the invite and congratulations for your work on this project. Just watched the video, UX looks nice & smooth. I'll try to find the time to test it soon 😅. I must say, I already have something else in mind to satisfy my need.

Following WPE drama since the beginning. I don’t like and don’t care much about WPE, but all what Matt is doing is far away to be only related to a legal issue. Matt is really dangerous and ready to destroy anyone for anything. Disgusting! I feel you imath :(.
