I never understand why you'd get the movie license for a franchise - a franchise you understand is popular for the story it tells - and then make your own movie with that franchise label slapped on. It might be an awesome movie...but you're selling people on RE.

I can confidently say that the story is the weakest part of the first 3 Resident Evil games. The monsters, funny lines, and atmosphere is what makes the games so memorable. The Umbrella Corp is a faceless bad guy org, Wesker is the most obvious twist villain ever, and Chris is a dumb muscle head.

The thought of having to rewrite my own stories in the same way is borderline nauseating. Anyone complaining about this isn't looking for a new movie, they want nostalgia and should go play the Remakes (or originals).

I honestly dont care. It looks like its made by someone who understands these games, which it is. The tone and the story are all that matters, and he did kind of say its a side story but its happening in the same world those legacy characters inhabit.

Dont care about that either. I just said it because fanboys care about that sort of stuff so that should be enough for them. The movie looks like its made by someone who cares. Whether Leon is the main character or not is irrelevant.

Resident Evil 7 was the revival of the franchise and it felt very different to the games before it. This film is clearly made by someone passionate that has a good track record of making engaging horror films, as a Resi fan I can't wait.
