Melamine foam is a fine abrasive. It will abrade the gold layer on the cartridge pins. I recommend not doing that. IPA and a soft rag works just as well. I also use a mars plastic eraser by itself, which physically pulls contaminants off the pins without abrasion.

Saying that blowing on a cartridge is going to damage it, then saying to use a MAGIC ERASER on the pins is wild tbh Also, I know it was mainly an excuse to show a teardown, but you don't have to take the entire shell off. Dip a Q-Tip in the alcohol, then just rub it along the contacts on both sides

okay but, my copy of tmnt 3 wasn't working, and then i blew on it and it worked perfectly from then on

Disassembly isn't really necessary, just use an isopropyl soaked cotton swab 🤷

I like blowing on it because it's nostalgic and makes me feel like a kid again.
