A lot of people don't know this, but when you brush a cat, you are legally required to show them the wad of cat hair that came off of them and tell them "this is enough for another whole cat"
My personal theory is that when matter passes through a black hole it emerges as cat hair.
Having to regularly shave a Persian has done nothing to shake my opinion on this count.
The cat in question, post shave.
Knowing her food intake effectively to the gram, and having to pick up her shit every morning, I cannot see how conservation of mass plays unless the hair supply draws on an extraneous matter source.
Our huskies blow their coats twice/year. For some reason, they have to blow out their summer fur to replace it with heavier winter fur.
Actually, fur rains off them when they walk so, it's constant. But, twice/year, we can pull off giant tufts of fur as well.
In our jurisdiction, when we brush the dogs, we have to arrange the loose fur in the shape of another dog and then ask the brushed dog if they want to have a play date with the loose-fur dog.
We do this because it pleases the dog to think they've grown a friend.
Yup. Especially when they are a long hair I’ve never had anything other than short hairs before this pair the long haired I could make a Maine Coon from his hair
I have 2 1/2 Maine Coons from the same litter. One got all the MC genes and the other got all the other genes (i think probably tabby or asian shorthair). Main Coons are one of the top tier cat breeds for sure.
I love them. Plus probably big enough to kick the dogs ass when he tries to hump them. I imagine brushing yours out would give enough hair to make a cougar or something :)
I wish we could brush her! until we rescued her her life was unfortunately rough. Cattery and bad humans. She's traumatized by a brush and even at times, by our hands. But oddly calm in clinical situations. So ... Groomer tomorrow. 🤞
