I'm not sure about you, but I think the collapse of US hegemony, a global price spike and recession, and a new ground war in the Middle East are far worse than drag queens reading books at the library.

You’ve got a valid point. My perception is that many Americans are still floating through life here, as if we are shielded from the consequences of America’s illegal war with Iran. I hope I’m wrong about this.

You are right ...you can lose yourself in a good book but a war you can not escape, if you do A Deserter you become A high price to pay either way ! A book a day keeps the mad men away 😉

Yeah, what’s coming out of this White House is insane. Unfortunately, I’ve come to the conclusion that at least 35% of us are also insane and voted for this. What’s to keep us from going off the cliff again with these crazy voters?!🤯

I dunno... The collapse of US hegemony is pretty up there... Not so sure it can overcome the war, but high prices? Easy! Gotta hand it to drag-story-time on this matchup.

Yes, but remember your principles of psychology. Few can comprehend a billion dollars, but 25 cents they understand. This is how con-men get away with murder. You get the mark focused on something dinky, and then swindle him out of his life savings.

Yeh, nah. As a citizen of a country that is not the USA, the collapse of US hegemony is a good thing. We've all had more than enough of your insular arrogance and ignorance. The current Nazi regime is merely a manifested extension of where you were heading.

I agree. However, I also think that some evangelicals buy into a notion that the Middle East conflicts and strengthening Israel are necessary precursors to the "end times" and the return of Jesus. Therefore, they will continue to support such destructive policies regardless of the consequences.

Did anyone ever put a stop to the drag queens reading books at libraries? Like, was there a big "it's now illegal for drag queens to read in public" bill passed into law that I didn't hear about? Or did we just, like... stop caring?

The moral panic playbook is fascinatingly consistent across centuries — create an imaginary threat while real crises unfold in plain sight. There's something darkly poetic about how we always seem to focus on the least dangerous thing in the room.

On the positive side, the stupidity and pointlessness of the war and rocketing oil prices might actually kick off a concerted movement away from fossil fuels and fascism

The collapse of US hegemony by itself is not a bad thing.. long overdue. Any country stupid or arrogant enough to elect an uncouth, immoral pedo traitor convicted of multiple crimes does not deserve to lead anything.

Everything's worse with the GOP! Progress begins when the fascist GOP ends. Don't forget the Pedophile Protectors: GOP = Guardians of Pedophiles: GOP = Gathering of Pedophiles: GOP = REP = AFP = American Fascist Party Don't forget Midterms are coming.

That’s a given at this point. The foreign relations will come back with another leader. Now it’s about saving the world from the disastrous consequences of Him. Each day is another threat from TACO.
