Decades ago I lived under a repressive military regime. Terrible as it was, there was still a sense of government trying to help people. This is the first time I have ever experienced a regime whose sole raison d'être seems to be to fuck every member of society outside their barricaded compound.

Sadly, I think the last time we had a legitimate government was when Roosevelt was president.

Remember way back when politics were boring. I regret taking that for granted at the time. Now it’s not merely “following politics.” More like politics follow us. With masks, pepper spray and guns.

Silly, but, yesterday I intentionally watched the movie, "The American President" just to have some kind of normalcy back again. Even though it was just a movie. Is that sad or what???

I don't disagree with you, but the issue is that we have a two party system. I think of it as taking a bus, the bus won't take me directly to where I want to go, but I'll take the bus that takes me closer to where I want to go. The same goes with politics. Sadly, that's where we're at right now.
