It’s time once again for America to become the “Arsenal of Democracy” (F.D.R.) in a fight against a homicidal dictator and provide Ukraine with all the armaments and intelligence necessary to defeat Putin. The fight is not with the Russian people only it’s corrupt leader and his wealthy supporters
And the Denizens of the #PariahStatesofAmerica deserve it for being too violent, greedy, selfish, ignorant & stupid to do anything right (SEE NOV. 5th 2024)
If that's what Trump wants, that's what Trump will get. Canada has the rest of the world to trade with and although we will be sad that the US has placed themselves behind a trade barrier, we will just move on with it.
Won't be long before you don't need a wall at your borders any more - no one will want to come to the US.
And fewer US citizen will go abroad:
- they are not welcome anywhere
- they fear problems on re-entering
Yeah .... wall us in, produce all our own products so don't need other countries goods, complain when no one will play with us in the sandbox and threaten. Boring as I see it!
Is this a good place to say that the original “America 1st” movement in the 1930s was a conservative isolationist movement that was expressly trying to keep the US out of WW2. It was coordinated the the American German Bund and was largely made up of republicans, Dixiecrats, and American Nazis?
Ask US People the first thing to enter their minds when you say the word "History" a large majority say the painting of Washington Crossing the Delaware. When you ask people elsewhere in the world, the majority say the Pyramids of Egypt or the Parthenon in Athens. US self-absorption is cultivated.
I remember Escape from New York. I think that was a great film, and a great idea. If we build a ruddy great wall around the US of As, and leave them to it.
Not such a bad thing, really! I mean all we're getting anymore from everyone is hatred and shit talking, anyway...
Oh, you're welcome for the last 80 years of defending the world from tyranny at our own expense
Now we're assholes for thinking about ourselves
That's special
Best of luck to all
I have many American friends and i'm a firm believer that the USA has made staggering positive contributions to the world. I'm sure many other people feel the same...until...like me...they see the contention that the USA has "defended the world from tyranny"....
At some point you need to recognise a few basic truths:
1. The USA has never defended anyone unilaterally. Ignoring and/or demeaning allies is one of the reasons for the current vitriol. Without allied support the USA would not have succeeded in any military campaign of the last 50 years.
2. Incidents such as the Mosaddegh coup (in which my country were equally complicit) clearly underline why people see the USA (and often the UK) as a major destabilising force in global politics. The current issues in Iran were created by past US gov's...and by that I mean actively created
