seeing people genuinely suggest that the game awards are rigged for gta 6 is so funny because i promise you if there’s one thing you don’t need to trick gamers into doing it’s celebrating the very expensive and highly marketed release as an artistic masterpiece. they will do that for free

they do have me more excited than i thought id be because im kind of a mark for rockstar just leaning all the way in to simulationist shit that no one needs or likely even wants but lmao yeah

i will believe it when i see it lol rdr had a bunch of simulationist ideas that would have been cool but then collided with the worst mission design on planet earth so i am not falling for it again lmao they gotta prove they mean it first

thats fair yeah their like half hour gameplay trailer that was almost all just shootout missions had me confused, because the interviews ive read point to a lot of really interesting emergent things and im like, well show me that then!

when i played rdr2 i will never forget holding up the first drugstore and the scripted shootout they force to occur by making the window invincible so you cant apply lateral thinking and escape. that was the moment the game lost me Permanently lmao

I just find it really funny how they're talking about GTA 6 barely making the cutoff and so they're giving the reviewers and judges the chance to play it early to judge if it should be nominated and It's reserved seating. Which is fine, it's his awards show, but it's reserved seating, let's be real

I'm sure that if GTA 6 wasn't eligible then this would be the year a zero budget indie darling with a text-based interface and leftist themes would win, but I guess now we'll never know

You've heard about movie buffs who will watch, and like, absolutely anything while understanding absolutely 0 about the story of said movies. Get ready for gamer-buffs who will do the exact same thing with 0 nuance or individualized opinion.

Rockstar should do something artistic, the way indie games are. Like chasing a trend you know you can capitalize on in 2 months making a game ppl play for 2 hours one night with friends and never again. Or making symphony of the night again. Or slay the spire but x

You just know Gamers would riot if an actually existing indie darling only 10,000 people know about won and not the multi-trillion dollar title that hits the general gaming audience like a nuclear bomb

"Your Game of the Year nominees are: -Big Walk -Denshattack -Titanium Court -Normal Golf Game -Once Upon a Katamari - Rolling Live Highlights -Resident Evil: Requiem"

I want it to be like Paranormasight 2, TR-49, Galley House, The Mermaid Mask, "oh but you need one Nintendo game" FRLG.IPS

what is the Keighley award to game of the year if not a "game with the largest gravitational well of the year" award
