sometimes i feel deeply ashamed of a mild social faux pas for like a week and every time i think it dude would have been over for me if i was born into catholicism

as an ex-catholic... at confessional priests always in my experience treated every confession as being serious and atoneable with a prayer on the logic of "you feel guilty, therefore some sin must exist" which. certainly doesn't help matters.
