people bitch about the owl in oot defaulting to a button that just repeats the text but this is maybe the most genius thing anyone's ever done

i do think sometimes that "streamer mode", as well as hiding sensitive information during multiplayer and muting any contentID-able songs, should force the player to actually type out sentences like "I can press R to reload, and I should do it when I am low on ammo" etc etc

I'm going to make text explanations the only mechanic. You will read a novel and write a dissertation about the plot, the characters and each of their arcs, and if you pull up any genAI program or website, a trojan will eat your ram (for legal reasons this is a joke)

read a funny story that playtesters got frustrated during the tutorial because they couldn't avoid the instakill boulder drop that knocks out one of your two starting cats to demonstrate the injury mechanic the solution was to make it do 999 damage to make it CLEAR it was scripted and unavoidable

Isn’t using images and such to explain what the player needs to do been a thing since…the start of video games….? Like conveying what the player needs to do by using basic 101 level design to guide you into understanding what the deal with this game is 😭

legend of Zelda:Tears of the kingdom does this all the time and it sold like 22 million copies. And yeah it is a bit aggressive with the tutorialization to the point where most of the game feels like a tutorial but yeah.
