Urban legends and myths are everywhere. Cybersecurity has some, too. That’s why we started a project called “Hacklore”. Hacklore are cybersecurity myths, folk advice, and panic-driven narratives that persist long after the landscape has changed.

Hacklore spreads through blogs, talks, policy docs, news, and social media. We need to retire hacklore guidance so attention can shift to advice grounded in how real-world attacks actually happen.
