The upper echelon of the US has pretty thoroughly indoctrinated my peer group. They use trigger points to induce anger so they believe that our brand of democracy and economics is the best. Yet they remain deluded and oblivious to the reality. Yes, it will take at least decades to return to normal.

Precisely. It all ties back to racism. MAGA is the modern inheritor of The Tea Party which is the inheritor of the Moral Majority which is the inheritor of the Southern Strategy which is the inheritor of Reconstruction which is how we fucked the post-Civil War reintegration of the South.

...and all of this assumes that republicans engage in the peaceful transition of power. 2020 was a litmus test for electoral denialism, and we should probably be gripping both buttcheeks firmly just in case.

The midterms are but a small step. The seating of the new Congress on January 3rd will tell the tale, assuming the democrats manage to not shoot themselves in the foot on November 3rd...still a big leap 🤞. Then, Congress MUST show a spine and undo at least some of the harm. Impeach convict remove!

The mid term at most will be a minor speed bump for their administration THEY voted in, THEY chose! The gave them time and power to build a fortress and align their minions. This was a choice they made years ago. The next 2 years if the US survives will be the big unknown!
