🚨 OCEAN HEAT: We are entering uncharted territory. Record-breaking ocean temperatures are pushing ecosystems closer to dangerous tipping points. Fossil fuel corporations and big polluters are gambling with a liveable planet for profit.

And some tech moron is now suggesting ocean going data centers to use seawater to cool everything down. Granted not as stupid as using a vacuum in space to dissipate heat (thats you Elon)

re. ‘pushing ecosystems closer to dangerous tipping points’? I don‘t see them. Oh, maybe that’s because they’re all in the rear view mirror. 3 generations.

When the global environmental catastrophe is obvious to the general population, all the oligarchs and politicians that aided and abetted them need to be held accountable. I am not saying 1789 accountable, but I am not not saying it.

I completely agree with your sense of urgency. The chart doesn‘t show ‚ocean heat‘, though, but the temperature of the specific ‚3.4 region‘ for El Nino measurements.

This will not stop until Kim Stanley Robinson's "Children of Kali" become very well funded and very active. Providing scientific facts hasn't made a dent. Rising numbers of heat deaths hasn't made an impact. Increased costs haven't mattered. The greedy right wing just doesn't care.

Just awful. @mark-carney.bsky.social how can you sleep at night? You are leaving your children a world on fire and making no real attempt to dial down the temperature. We need to transition away from fossil fuels, not increase the infrastructure and production, just so our LNG is used to power AI.

Bc we're not talking shop during dinner and family gatherings. We need to be talking about religion, politics, and climate change during dinner. If the other adults at the table don't want to have that convo, tell them to grow up or sit at the kids table.

Welcome to The Malthusian Trap. Built by Growth. Driven by Greed. Version 8: The trap is already doing damage. This is no longer a warning about what may happen. It is an analysis of what has already begun.

People are dying from extreme heat. Harvests are failing. Water systems are under stress. Work hours are being lost. Homes and infrastructure are being destroyed. Insurance is retreating. Climate costs are rising.

It's not the corporations. It's us. I get so fucking tired of people trying to shift the blame and avoiding responsibility. If we didn't buy it ... the corporations wouldn't make it. Not saying they're not villains. They are. But we're idiots who allow it - even fund it.
