You’ll have heard a lot about violence among French protestors. You’ll hear very little about the violence committed by French police against the protesters. And you’ll hear almost nothing about the violence of austerity. This is not a coincidence. graceblakeley.substack.com/p/class-war-...

”But austerity is never really about closing budget deficits (something it consistently fails to do). Austerity is fiscal class war, designed to disempower the working class and protect the interests of the wealthy.”

I mean it's quite optimistic to think modern journalists ask ANY questions. They just regurgitate the pap their lobbyist, corporate and political mates ask them to.

This! Agree completely. Have been having innumerable arguments with people who only focus on the violence by agents of chaos and not on the very real and underlying cause.

This is an essential message, repeated in all walks of life: '[Journalists] see their job as reporting on the actions of individuals, not analysing the social structures that force some people onto the streets in protest while others flee the scene in private jets.' We need more #OUTSIGHT!

2 protesters died, little kids lost an eye, an arm, and other things A journalist almost died, many got beat up Macron is deploying tanks now, it's insane The Zionists always do this, this is what they do

I think that we *are* hearing about police violence, both online and by personal contacts. Perhaps you mean via television news? I have written on Bluesky about precisely this issue.

Stuart Rose was on BBC Any Questions today, tossing on about how "capitalism was the best and most successful system for hundreds of years" he even got some applause. It's like, yeah ok, Lord Rose of Monewden!
