A reminder that in the 10 years I worked at WaPo, every single news item Dylan Byers wrote about the place contained “facts” I knew to be false. Bro’s entire career is built on single-source stenography of rumors an owner or c-suite chucklehead heard from afar. “Lickspittle” is underselling it.

A literal "I hope she sees this bro" post

One time I got the worst cut and color of my life at this place that allegedly specialized in curly hair. And like a year later, I got an email blast for every client this place had ever had saying “We would like to let everyone know that [terrible stylist] no longer works here.” I’m just saying

..if @puck.news ever finds themselves in the red, may I humbly suggest sending out a “Dylan Byers no longer works here” email blast with a “Please Subscribe” button and seeing what happens?

I think its improbable and/or difficult without a major screw uo due to the ownership structure of Puck. Its unfortunate he was bad even then. I have found the Puck reporters who dont cover Hollywood but relocated to L.A. are likeliest to be disconnected from their best and it undermines the site.

Contrast with Masters, Cohen & Ioffe who, in my opinion, have kept their feet on the ground. Byers and Hamby most certainly not. Its a consequence of becoming part of the wannabe elite audience you serve rather than staying at some remove.
