Really feels like a tipping point now, with lots of the familiar centrist Dems and even MAGA Silicon Valley types calling out Trump (and Stephen Miller) for harsh immigration policy. Dem leadership has moved to no funding for DHS, and R senators are calling for investigations (weak but notable).

Tragic that it took two avoidable murders and countless injustices to arrive at this place where elites are finally acknowledging what the people have been demanding for a year. As someone who has been banging on this drum, I'm relieved with the trend, but dismayed with the consequences of inaction.

More of us data people need to push back against the Yglesiases of the world, who view public opinion as binding as opposed to something that can be shaped. I appreciate the work and integrity you've shown throughout this terrible time, Elliott.

And it's so much more than the politics of whether or not affordability or immigration/deportation is a better sell to voters. Minneapolis is showing us in stark terms that opposing Trump's inhumane deportation policies is a moral imperative.

When will Dems also start talking about the immigration reform package that Trump killed before the election? It wasn't great but it's better than jackbooted thugs killing people in the streets. There needs to something meaningful paired with the "defund" demand

Perhaps it's time to address, as Sarah Kendzior state, "the transnational crime syndicate masquerading as a government" and put propaganda news networks out of business. Let's stop providing incentive to lie in this country.
