A delayed note about this photograph. This isn’t a finished photograph at all — it is just a screen grab from the iPad version of Lightroom, where I was scanning though unprocessed raw files.

Nice! We were thinking of going to the east side on the 24th, but from what I'm reading everything is peaking one or two weeks earlier than usual. What's your read on it?

Hue, to my mind the 24th of October is usually too late for aspens. Michael Frye persuaded me a few years back that you can still color in the third week of October, but you have to search. Right now most of the high elevation color is over, though it is good lower.

Thanks. Our first trip there was the weekend of 10/24/12 (wedding anniversary) and it wasn’t bad, but that was the only time we’d seen it good that late.
