I finished SFB Games' The Mermaid Mask. One of the easiest recommendations I can make this year if you enjoy story driven games. Just a fantastic cast of characters and really well paced interesting mystery. youtu.be/lGzSjY6AwIw

I recommend playing Tangle Tower first since there are some nice payoffs. Maybe play Curse of the Swamp too if you want the full story though that game has some annoying bugs.

Could I play it with 9 year olds?

I think so. There is nothing very gruesome or suggestive. There is some implied violence but it’s all depicted with “puppets”. You can ask for a hint at any time, so you don’t need to get stuck pixel hunting for clues. The ending is a bit intense but comparable to recent animated movies.
