Q: How do we grow #dataliteracy skills? A: We worked with scientists to develop the PPSTT framework to help students make sense of graphs & figures. Part of a free unit for grades 9–uni; #openaccess thanks to NSF funding to Dr. Tom Luhring at WSU 🧪 #scicomm #edusky youtube.com/shorts/zDRqw...

In Lesson 1 of our DataStreams unit, students practice the PPSTT approach for #dataliteracy as they explore the Google Ngram Viewer. If you've never heard of it–it's an amazingly simple interface for exploring how the frequency of words changes in books over time. books.google.com/ngrams/

How to read graphs like a scientist? 🧪 In Lesson 2, students dive into streamflow data. In this video, Dr. Tom Luhring & his MS students model how to make sense of a graph they've never seen. Awesome cognitive apprenticeship for students! youtu.be/tdNZ_lqLRHs #scicomm #edusky #dataliteracy
