CGI in movies peaked with Jurassic Park. Can't think of a heavily CGI movie I rate since. Watching Gladiator 2 coz on Netflix, first scene haeavily CGI boat battle, is just meh.

CGI even regressed IMHO. Steven Spielberg's "Disclosure Day" (terrible movie, no recommendation) contains some CGI scenes with animals, relevant for the story and the CGI is so, so, so bad. From the the same director who gave us Jurassic Park.

Also, I never made it past the boat battle in Gladiator 2. Instead I watched Gladiator 1 again, to see if it is still watchable, and oh my, compared to the sequel... Maybe not Oscar worthy (though it got at least one), but really good entertainment and a solid movie that stood the test of time.

Like Jurassic Park the original movie, that was also very watchable after I revisited again.
