No causal link found. Impulsivity doesn't disappear from ppl, we're animals. Part of that thing attached to our neck is supposed to moderate our impulsiveness. If this medication somehow helps the moderation, that's great, because impulsiveness and self centeredness are taking us 2a bad place.

Yup. And, as our good friends at Forbes demonstrate here, heavily advertised on often false premises. GLP1 is not "like cognitive behavioral therapy," it has a mild correlation with decreased activity. Framing that as "GLP1 is like CBT and will fix anger issues!" should set off some real Purdue

Hmm, ever since GLP-1 meds became so popular and profitable, all sorts of benefits have been "researched". What a wonderful fountain-of-youth-like medicine that can cure all diseases, and make everyone immortal forever, solving 10 billion ailments! Oh wow!

Maybe, it's just that when people feel HUNGRY, they have more of a tendency to react "violently" to various stressors. Dull the hunger pangs and less violence... Especially if "violence" is defined as any action more than total mild acceptance of the stressor.

ahh DATA please!!! Criminologist who JUST Quit working at a Group Home which became very violent, clients attacking staff constantly. Two Clients on this drug for weight loss. Very verbally aggressive &...

so a drug which causes you to eat less and therefore have less energy makes you not feel as much like spending your energy on violence? you don't fucking say... yea, it is harder to be violent while starving. thank you researchers for this shocking news

I've always noticed that well fed animals are kind while hungry animals are violent. GLP-1s make people feel more full and less hungry, so it makes sense to me they would then be less violent.

GLP-1 drugs are actually powerful systemic anti-inflammatories. They cross the blood-brain barrier to directly calm neuroinflammation in the brain's emotional center (the amygdala). For people with the #rs5522 genetic variant, brain inflammation will trigger erratic moods and behavior.

I do in home care for a man with autism. He lives with his parents. He originally started taking GLP-1 because he's obese. They quickly realized that his behavior was different while on the medication. Medicare stopped paying for it but thankfully they used a work-around to fund it 💕.

Because it numbs them into oblivion. No bad behavior, no great behavior. No fun, no joy, just....nothing. I have seen this in a friend that has been taking them. Super alarming.

Or it could be that people with more-sedentary lifestyles (which is why they're on those meds in the first place) aren't likely to be out doing more of, umm, these activities.

My theory is that GLP-1 makes all cells in our bodies passive - less desire to eat, less violence, less risk of heart attack, less this and that… but also less desire to do or feel anything. It’s a suppression, not an improvement.

One needs to be careful in the reporting. I am a retired Counselling Therapist and have just started on GLP-1. I have accute kidney damage thanks to antigbm, have recovered well &Dr suggests will be helpful. It does ‘dull’ the want, for me, deadens taste. CBT for sure, helps rethink eating habits.
