I honestly don’t get the current standard.site embed, the subscribe button just goes to the publication instead of subscribing, seems like a “read article” button (that opens the article) would make way more sense (or a subscribe button that actually subscribes me ^^)

re: the subscribe button, agreed that it's not very useful right now. we wanted to get the conversation going about whether it's interesting / legible for users to subscribe with one click from the card itself. but i don't think we'll keep the button as-is.

yeah to keep the subscribe button i think it needs to have some impact on your experience within bluesky itself, like what you suggested

i want this feature too, but to be fair. it doesn’t say “subscribe to {publication}” it says “subscribe on {platform}”. seems clear enough to me that the action is not handled for you

Yeah i suppose, though i did click on that a few times already without thinking expecting it to go to the article, cause that just seems like what it should do

I would prefer there is no button. It is tacking too much heigh real state. If people want to subscribe, it is better to let them do that once they are reading the post. Something more subtle taking half the space would do a better service to these expansions.

Yeah agreed, at least for what the button currently does, just not having it would be better (can still just make the author name clickable and direct to the publication)
