It's a bit awkward seeing people dunking on tiktok users and acting like they're being overdramatic when Those same people were... I don't know, acting a certain kind of way about having to rebuild here after leaving Twitter Which was also a much different scenario than what's happening to tiktok

It's fine if you didn't "get" tiktok or whatever. I haven't used it in months (because once the ban conversation STARTED I stopped wanting to put any effort in there) But just because it's not your cup of tea doesn't make it any LESS useful than Bluesky is or Twitter was

A lot of different experiences to be had. A lot of educators. a LOT of activists. People who really know their shit. Dara Starr Tucker, Levert the Bassman, EVN the Bioethicist, Cannon's Fodder, Crime Pays but Botany Doesn't, Mercury Stardust, Pearlmania500, etc. etc. A lot of perspectives

And yeah, there were definitely issues with algorithm suppression just like on every other app, but it was at least a tool outside the Meta and Google monopoly. I don't know if folks grasp how vital that is right now. Anyhow.

To say the government fumbled this is an understatement, it's the absolutely knobbest shit ever and such a massive, colossal waste of time and energy and taxes But, like. Maybe come down of the old high horse when it comes to people who are bummed to see it (very likely?) go away.
