I can't believe we turned "Laptop Worker" into a term of derision. We now have the tech and business models to allow millions of people to make a living in ways unthered to a farm plot, assembly line,, or cubicle. That's very cool! Do not project your weird yearning for the mines on to me.

I only direct this towards those who feel superior to those of us who labored otherwise. They should enjoy the good fortune the previous generations labored to make possible.

In many cases probably true, but there are also many who have no idea the good fortune they enjoy by never having a job that is physically demanding or dangerous. There is no truer concept than that of "Walk a mile in my shoes."

Yeah, that's probably fair. We could all stand to be better aware of our various privileges. I guess my objection is solely to those who make the absence of such privilege a virtue, a cultural fixation and apparently a policy direction.

Agreed. My sons make a living by keyboard and I envy them that at times. Yet I am so glad they never had to work hours and days in barely tolerable conditions. I try to extend that attitude toward all who are in similar circumstance. Too many are overpowered by the envy and can't enjoy the progress.
