Ohio has basically defacto banned trans healthcare for adults using a similar strategy to why there was only a handful of abortion clinics in the entire Midwest before the Dobbs decision (TRAP laws) cis people please repost this so this info doesn't get stuck in the queer social bubble

Important: The restrictions on non-surgical care are only proposed at this point. Which isn't to say they're not awful, but people currently receiving gender-affirming treatment shouldn't discontinue today!

The TRAP rules DeWine announced today still have to go through an administrative process to be enacted, so there is not *yet* a de facto ban on gender affirming care in Ohio.

It's an important distinction to make because so much of this shit *has* taken effect instantly, e.g. Roe trigger laws that closed clinics within hours of Dobbs. "You have an unknown amount of time to plan for Ohio banning care" requires a different response from "care was banned in Ohio *today*"

there's a comment thread about this above it does take effect instantly due to an emergency rule, but only for 120 days. also the rules committee that has to validate it is controlled by the GOP in the Ohio House and Senate.
