So those CubeSats can be used for amateur (ham) radio? Aim a Yagi antenna somewhere in their parabola, fire off a voice transmission in UHF (440MHz, 70cm), get a response back in VHF (144MHz, 2 meters)?

For STS1, the team describes digital data and SatNOGS reception. I wouldn't assume that means a voice repeater. spaceteam.at/en/sts1-en/

The "ham sat" thing is that it works by reflection, not being a real repeater. It's like a cheaper, closer version of Moonbounce, where you need a "legal limit" 1500-watt UHF amplifier to ricochet digital or Morse off our natural satellite because voice is too weak.
