Honestly disappointed in how the VR industry has turned out.

To me it really feels like we've plateaued in the tech, prices have only risen, and (at least to me) not very many notable games are really releasing right now. The last time I was really excited in the VR space was when Bonelab released, still an absolute favorite game to fool around in... :(

Agreed. The Frame release just reinforced that tech is stalling while prices skyrocket. Outside-in tracking being left behind by the big players in the space makes me sad. And with no meaningful upgrade path for my 6 year old headset, and no new games to play, I’m falling out of love with the medium

I feel this so much. I am a hard-core "base stations or bust" person for tracking, and seeing the Frame have inside-out really disappointed me. Being an enthusiast hurts now because I want so badly for the tech and games to advance, but it feels like the industry is holding themselves back

I’ve been seeing it be stalled for awhile now but the steam frame makes me feel more than ever that VR isn’t going anywhere interesting anytime soon, and while I’ve held out to see new exciting experiences to play, there really just has been nothing especially in the PCVR space

i hate to say it like this but; meta basically pioneered this commercialization of it super quickly with their extremely proprietary software.

Yeah meta’s closed ecosystem has for sure had a negative effect. But it is just a part of a complex web of things that have lead to this stagnation.
