We heard the Bluesky community cares about Open Source, so we showed up 👋 Our endowment dedicated to supporting Open Source maintainers is already at $729k, and we're developing a model for distributing our first funding round. Have ideas on how to identify critical OSS projects? We're listening.

Download count, then dependents count are good places to start. Is there any way to apply to this fund, by any chance? One of my projects, Mock Service Worker, is pretty much a critical project maintained by a single person.

Some one asked me whether you have approximate dates for each of the steps in the “Selection Process” timeline, like… 1. Until when are you be collecting inputs? 2. When are maintainers expected to be contacted for Due Diligencie)? 3. Any deadline for final decisions on Approval & Distribution?

We're open to collaboration generally, but the reason we decided to create our own model is that we found that existing funding allocation models have significant shortcomings. For example, no major model can surface binary dependencies. But let us know if you had anything specific in mind!
