I don't understand why some very popular software is not both good and open source. Maybe the private plugin market is just so thick now that no one has an incentive to change the status quo. There should be a good free Davinci Resolve color grading competitor. There should be a good free capcut.

Davinci gives you a lot in their free version, I know. I use it. But it's a sharp $300 if you want to author anything custom or use whatever random effect they deem premium. Capcut is a bit more annoying here. They surprise you in the render - pay us to export your video.
