Trying out a new medium (acrylic ink) and doing my first self portrait in 10 years! It’s a bit too pink, and I lost the white of the paper on the bottom lip, but I am pleased with the outcome! I still prefer watercolour 😂

Thank you! I treated it like watercolour and I’ve used regular acrylics in the past (hate them lol). It is jus the frustration of not being able to lift the pigment in the same way you can with watercolour

Your portraits are so gorgeous Emily! Even with a new medium, the blending is so good on the skin. I'd pull out a white pencil for the lip but that's me xD What's the main difference you found between these and watercolor?

thank you! i used them as if they were watercolours (lot sof wet in wet to start and v thin washes after that). It was basically that they don't lift - but they're more forgiving than regular ink I think, at least i've found that!

Ahh interesting! Ooh yeah I can see how that would make working with them so different. Being able to lift pigment is really key, something I use quite a lot! Still, always fun to test new things

Thank you! I have some liquitex, a couple of fw and one golden (the golden top is the worst design EVER, the others are sensible pipettes).
