Didn't you guys literally defend big tech in court by saying "generative AI is clearly transformative" and therefore training it on whatever they want is fine? Are we all just supposed to forget that?

Switched to Ubuntu Desktop and cancelled M365 subscription. I have been using Vivaldi for over a year and love it. Would love to see a mainstream fully supported mobile device and a real competitor to Google Maps, TomTom, Here and MapQuest are fine but often provide very circuitous routes.

On my Android phone, I am very satisfied with OsmAnd as an alternative to Google Maps. Identified the correct route (parking space 200 m ahead with connected footpath) better than Google Maps that guided our car to fall into a ravine.

The exact same illusion exists in music tech. Artists are conditioned to believe centralized DSPs are the only default distribution pipelines. Breaking big tech's monopoly requires artists to self-host their master files on sovereign, direct-to-listener rails where they control the software layer.

Nice to use better alternatives 😊 You're using the "opt out" phrasing though, which is a scam made to make people think they're safe and that privacy has been solve, when it's really just a scam

Pretty good article with good alternatives! Looks like ProtonMail owner may be a bit of a right winger and gave money to causes? Could you all look into that, plz?

As expected, from a user point of view. With Free Software, your computer serves your interests above and beyond anyone else's interests. Whenever there's a conflict (i.e. ALL THE TIME), the user's preference is upheld. With proprietary software, all conflicts are resolved in favor of the developer.
