I'm waiting for the "Semi-Truck SUV" that only allows 4 people seating, gets 2 miles a gallon of gas or 40 miles each EV charge. But it will be BIGGER than the "hummer"! BUT WHAT A STATUS SYMBOL!! Nothing says "wealth" like a waste of it.

Size growth of cars is to a huge part due to safety regulations needing more space. Growth of the inside of cars is much smaller.

Agreed. Thank you. 27 air bags require a lot more space, and collision avoidance lidar occupies an extra 1/2 cubic meter under the bonnet. If it wasn’t for the safety mandates my Jeep would be at least 100 kilos lighter and significantly skinnier.

I had recently bought my Dacia Spring EV and parked it at a row of chargers in the hospital parking lot. Came back two hours later and thought it had gone. Left picture is on the roof of a shopping mall. Can you see where my slate blue car is in the right picture?
