I'm a Go, JS/TS, C and PHP developer. I also know many other languages, although I'm less efficient with them (I try to learn one a year). In 2024, I'm still choosing #PHP for most new projects because: 1/4

- except for RoR and Spring Boot, nothing can compete with Symfony and Laravel to get things done, and evolve if necessary - the ecosystem is huge (there's a library for every use case), thriving, well-maintained and not totally broken every month 2/4

- almost all developers know the language, and it's easy to learn. When I have advanced needs like super-fast services, of course I use Go, Zig, Rust, or C. When I want to do AI, I use Python. When I need a do write a quick lambda function, or a PWA, obviously I use JS/TS. 3/4

Hopefully not Laravel, if we're talking about large-scale projects. Anyway ... PHP stays one of my current favorite choices, too. Although I 'd never use Laravel for any of my projects, because of it 's complexity and its non-component, old fashioned framework style.
