Age verification is deanonymization, Deanonymization is censorship. The Supreme Court is now taking away your right to anonymously *read* a form of speech. If speaking can mean that your readers have to subject themselves to potential consequences to read it, how can there be freedom of speech?

NEW: In a 6-3 decision, the Supreme Court held that age verification for explicit sites is constitutional. The majority said it protects minors without violating free speech; dissenters warned it burdens adults’ rights and ignores First Amendment precedent. by @mattburgess1.bsky.social:

Remember: Data gathered for one purpose will inevitably be used for other purposes. Especially when that data is gathered by, or on behalf of, the government. (linked post is a thread)

Also do notice, these two Supreme Court decisions dropped the *same day*: - States can restrict online speech if it is "adult". - The mere depiction of homosexual existence can be objectionable adult content. A plus B equals C

Alito includes screenshots from the books he thinks parents should be able to bar schools from letting their children read.

I saw this crankery during local School board fights. Lunatics wanted to declare anything gay as adult, thus banned. They were told to use the opt out forms to prevent their kids participating in lessons acknowledging LGBTQ people as people. They found the one page form too difficult to fill out.

Well, I saw at least one black commentator who considers it extremely significant Alito's example of objectionable material *is* an interracial couple.

Anti porn, anti abortion, anti queer, and the performative pedo shit the repugnican talking heads spew all serve the same purpose. Make more wage slaves before the social security debacle fully manifests. There are certainly other reasons, but as usual, follow the money.

Then they wont ever be satisfied because queer people have always naturally existed and are born that way, so no amount of action on their part could ever stop us existing. You might as well try to hold back the tide… But hey the madness of mind!
