Yep I love a 3-5 hours game.

None of my favorites are really 'one-sitting' games. Closest I get is Bejeweled 3, still pissed PopCap hasn't ported Bejeweled Stars or made a different sequel for PC.

this is what I feel matters more and 80hr games just give me something fun doesn't matter the length really. sure I could want more but least it happened.

Absolutely loved Children of the Sun for this exact reason

The best kind of games, in my opinion.

Katana zero is my favorite game I've played in one sitting.

Like Elden Ring?

like Starfox 64

I’m sh1tting on one as we speak

Fuck you were faster i was literally about to say that 😭😭

Including The Longing.

It sure is 💖

Best mobile app game like this?

No one said anything about achievements 👀 (But seriously, thank you for playing all our games to 100% completion - that's amazing 🔥👏👏)

speedrunners can confirm this

Mega Man X. Or any of the first five Mega Man X games.

Arcade games are some of the best! Sit down, enjoy, and drop whenever.

In that case you should try our student-made game: Moldbreaker Rise of the Loaf. Takes about an hour, and it's free. #gamedev store.steampowered.com/app/3374700/...

But not when they cost a fortune and then it's over with in no time. THAT'S what I hate. There's nothing more depressing than paying 30 and 40 dollars for a game that's only a few hours long. 😞

Pineapple on Pizza is very quick and funny.

TMNT games are usually good for this.

God, WoW was definitely the stinkiest of all times for me. Dropped out of college (equivalent to the last 2 years of high school here in the UK,) after several really hard years, would just sit there in my underwear playing 36 hour stretches during WOTLK. What a time.

I beat Portal in 4 hours and it's still one of my favorite games.

I personally love games that are shorter because I rarely finish games that require 20+ hours of gameplay. I get overwhelmed, bored, or burnt out and never pick it up again.

Resident Evil 1 for PS1. An average skill level player can beat it in around 4 hours without rushing.

Love a bite-size game! So many fantastic indie games are this length. Sometimes 80hour long adventures can be a daunting commitment. Especially if ur unsure if the experience is for you. Quality over Quantity should be appreciated more.

I like games like ESO and Aeternum, u never finish, u just do different stuff

It's barely a sitting. Takes like an hour.

Damn right they are

Time poor dad of 2 special needs kids. Games over 16 hours are no good. I get lost because I can't play consistently

We reckon Shenmue can be done in a couple of sittings (or less), if you know what you're doing! 😉 #LetsGetShenmue4

I love a good 6-8 hour playthrough.

Yes, i love A Short Hike

Yeah, I love Factorio too.

Preach!

Shout-out ABZU 😎🤚

Balatro is good for that. Addicting as hell too.

Gris literally changed how I view games, and their imoact on the world. Finished it immediately. Absolutely brilliant!

Any game can be completed In one sitting if you're determined enough

I enjoy speedrunning sonic 1-3 and Mania. I also heard this game called Minit was pretty good. I mean, it only lasts a minit, but it's the best minit of gameplay I ever experienced. I enjoyed every Minit of it. Ok, I'll stop now and actually finish it. store.steampowered.com/app/609490/M...

I really enjoyed Unpacking but I wouldn't pay full price for it- it's shorter than expected.

portal

Of course, but the price should be adequate 😉 I'm not accusing you of that, that's just a reminder

I beat Journey and Gone Home in one sitting. Both were great and I have gone back to them a few times over the years.

agree, i have been much preferring shorter experiences

My yearly pilgrimage to play through Luigi’s Mansion never disappoints me. So good and so efficiently small.

🤴short game king 🤴

Every game is a game you can complete in one sitting if you have the fortitude.

Comfort gaming. There's nothing wrong with that.

Top 3 of all time. Just not from Devolver 😅

Got any recommendations?

They are some of the best

Shout-out to Pizza Pop. Yeah, it's an okay NES/Famicom game, and only lasts at most 30 minutes, but it's fun to just play it in one go every so often... Along with using the rewind feature because I'm bad at it.

Nah

Perfect for streaming!

I have fond memories of Short Hike and To The Moon (series).

But why? Barely have enough time to get into the plot.

says the studio who made a game I couldnt beat in 200h (EtG)

I'd even say, often preferred!

And have enough caffeine and couch snacks.

Cat quest!!

Still wakes the Deep! it's around 8 hours long but you should definitely play it in one sitting to really get immersed

I play on Online speed offline, even if you decide to play after you win the game doesn't end at 250 turns and you can't stack victories sadly.

I've done that many times. No point wasting time on a certain victory. I've also done the same for games where I've obviously lost, too.

Well my first commercially released game is made to be finished in one setting. Doesn't sell well, maybe I should have asked for help, but I made it all alone so I am proud of it as it is.

First ratchet and clank but I shouldn't have

Definitely some great suggestions I want to come back to in this thread. I guess we don’t have a bookmark function on this site yet?

Speedrunning:

nah, I prefer games with some staying power.

If there is a will all games can be completed in one sitting.

I often enjoy short games that are satisfying and only take a few hours. It’s amazing what can be done when you focus on quality over scale **ahem Bethesda**

Dude... bsky.app/profile/joha...

The Best

I cant pick up another 80+ hour game I just cant

I beat Hotline Miami in one sitting in 2013 and it was a life changing experience, thanks for that.

Inside and Gris come to mine

Portal was amazing!

Where my Journey fans at???

Movies vs TV

All games can be completed in one sitting if you're not a coward

All the people saying Journey in this thread really need to play Jusant! It's the best Journey-like I think I've ever played and it sold pretty poorly. It was on PC gamepass back when I played it, not sure if it still is but gets a big recommendation from me!

the one I play is updating almost every week and we get to do new things.

💯💯

Agreed! Pt is great!

Here's a personal, *completely*, unbiased recommendation of mine: pr0te.itch.io/trimjob

But after the credits roll....... the bad thoughts return..... louder.... angrier.... nastier

mouthwashing!!

Journey, Inside, Limbo, Gris, all gems

Whether or not you can complete *any* game in one sitting is a simple function of how little sleep you can run on and how much coffee and junk food you have on hand.

Journey is short, but one of the most beautiful games ever made. I’ll always defend short games 💖

In my first session of BG3 I managed to create my character.

One? to rule them all? P O R T A L

oneshot!

luigi's mansion

Arkham Asylum. Metal Gear Solid 1 and 2.

You might be remembering it as longer! It's about 2 hours long. Portal 2 is about 6-ish?

I recently beat each of the Donkey Kong Country games for SNES in separate single sessions on stream last month! I enjoyed the length and quality of each one

Although I’ll say I prefer Super Mario Bros. 3 on NES as my single session game

Absolutely, as a kid playing both through the whole game and shortcutting through the Star World. I actually really wanna replay it again soon!

I must be really lame, it took me much more than 2 hours to complete it.

True but it was the only 1 sitting game I could think of off the top of my head. But back in the earlier days... pretty much any game was a 1 sitting game. That was before local storage of course. But people do still play Super Mario bros.

Journey, Portal 1 and 2, Super Mario Bros, Spiderman for PS1. There's 5.

Virtually every arcade game with a staff roll from the late 80’s well into the 2000s?
