Take Trump seriously when he threatens to jail election officials for doing the job they’re sworn to do: counting votes. “We are not on the precipice of a constitutional crisis,” Marc Elias says. “We have reached it.” They’re betting you’ll stop paying attention. Follow us to prove them wrong.

States can and should say no. The law only works if enforced. States should recognize federal actions that violate state and federal laws and simply refuse to comply with illegal orders.

Calling it a "precipice" is generous. We’ve already walked off the ledge; we’re just currently in that brief, silent moment of floating before the physics of authoritarianism actually kick in.

It is taken seriously. Question is what to do when.... you're harrassed, hurt, threatened with jail or worse. Where are those instructions? We'd tell kids to look for a grown up ... no safe place here. He's going to be nuclear.

He doesn't even need to jail anyone. The threat alone is enough to make election workers quit in fear, and then the faithful take their place. That's the whole play, and it's already working.

good majority of polling staff is ready, some are even hiring people to keep watch over the stations for signs of right wing nuts showing up. Where I am the state police is doing that, watching for magats that could cause trouble

Hope Americans are paying attention NOW and not when they’ve run out of “others” and coming for them.

I really hope people will be willing to group up and physically fight back against any fuckers illegally intimidating voting places or arresting people. Standing around and watching and recording a video is good, but physically stopping them is miles better.

If, after the election, this administration tries any shenanigans, the people better get out on the streets and protest, otherwise we'll all be doomed.

Wouldn't the US have reached a constitutional crisis when the losing presidential candidate led an insurrection against the gov't without repercussions?
