🚨BREAKING: In a loss for voters, the Supreme Court ruled to bar New Hampshire election officials from considering student IDs as evidence of identity when registering and voting during the midterms. The broader ban on automatically accepting student IDs as valid photo ID also remains in effect.

In her dissent, Justice Jackson wrote: "Importantly, this so-called “Purcell principle” arose in a particular context, and this Court has yet to fully define its limits."

Jackson: "It seems to me that a case involving a court order like the one at issue here—which left the state election rule untouched—does not necessarily fall within the ambit of Purcell and its concern about federal courts “changing the election rules” at the last minute."
