🚨BREAKING: The DOJ sued California for sending mail ballots to 20k people the Trump administration claims are likely noncitizens. The lawsuit comes after the DOJ threatened legal action if the state did not set aside cast ballots of those flagged until their citizenship status is confirmed.

The lawsuit accuses California of knowingly facilitating noncitizen voting and asked a federal court to stop the state from counting ballots the DOJ believes may have gone to noncitizens.

From the complaint: "Thus, months before California started sending vote-by-mail ballots...the Federal Government alerted the California Secretary of State that a preliminary review of California’s voter role revealed that numerous likely noncitizens were registered to vote in California."

The filing revealed the number of alleged noncitizens it flagged two days ago, nearly a week after ballots began to be sent to the Sunshine State's 23 million registered voters. The 20k number is significantly lower than the administration's July claim that over 190k noncitizens were on the rolls.
