NEW: A Republican U.S. Senate candidate said he's recruiting off-duty police officers to serve as poll watchers in Detroit for the 2026 midterms — and suggested they could flash their badges at voters. Intimidating voters is illegal. Interfering with someone's right to vote is a federal crime.

Any Michigan voter who supports this bullying should understand that he is basically admitting that he has no confidence that voters actually support him, so, if elected, has no intention of actually performing his duties to support those voter. One wonders which rich “pimp” he is beholden to.

If MAGA has the local police force on their side and federal investigators on their side, whether or not it is illegal is irrelevant. They are setting up the extralegal infrastructure to win elections, and pro-democracy activists need a response that is stronger than "pls stop it's illegal 👉👈"
