Aren't you putting the bar too low here? Our global CO2 budget is gone before 5 years, and the north promised to leave some extra time for the south to reduce emissions. Or am I using the wrong standard here?

The Comprehensive Plan of my city extends 20 years and doesn't include a single measure to directly reduce emissions. We need people in city hall demanding that their city council remove parking spaces, make more pedestrianised streets, and expand (electric) public transit.

The real question, then, is what consequences do we draw out of this ? That's a discussion I'd like to have - not sure I've seen spaces where this is (at least openly) discussed! (Glad if anyone has pointers!)

Not only is the world deeply unserious, but the stupidest people in the room are constantly shouting that it is all a hoax.

But USA is about 10% of the current world’s emissions, if I recall. Of course the USA could be a leader. Of course, we’re only leaders in ignorance AFAIK.

Probably zero.

It’s almost as if people have a collective death wish and want to experience a live action actual climate disaster movie.
